Better Than Sliced Bread

While at the Internet Librarian conference last week, I learned of a cool new tool that allows one to have multiple document tabs in MS Office Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Instead of having many documents open, each in its own window, one can now have all the documents tabbed on the same screen, just like a web browser.

OfficeTab works in Office 2003 and 2007 on Windows XP, Vista or 7. It’s made by a Chinese developer, so both Chinese and English versions are available. Don’t be disconcerted when you get to a page with lots of Chinese characters.

You can get it free here:

Scroll down past the Word screen shots and you’ll see:
File Name: OfficeTab_v1.22.zip
File Size: 1,110,192 bytes
MD5 Checksum: E9BF90ABA4C29CC452845110295FAD58
Download Address: Click to download

Click on the “Click to download” link and it will download to your computer. Install it and restart any Office apps and open a document. You’ll see the tabs.
